AFRICAN GEESE
African geese are a traditional staple on backyard farms. They are excellent egg layers and quite protective over their property and flock. While they have a reputation for being aggressive, we see them as being confident around people and with proper handling, are easy to handle. They are excellent foragers and do especially well in a free-range environment.
Our African flock live with our five horses and free-range 24/7 across nine acres. But they are always by their food bowls at breakfast & dinner
time! They love to come right up and chat away whenever they see us. They are very social and extremely fun to have around. We have the full variety of the breed, including brown, brown/white cross and pure white, ranging from hatchery to show quality. We separate our top white African pair during breeding season, but they otherwise all live as a big group and get along famously, despite the ratio of boys to girls being 50/50.
